The Big Latch On

Breastfeeding journey of Swati

Breastfeeding journey of Swati

The day I started my Pregnancy journey I was very sure I will not give a drop of Formula - This was my saying till the end and so happily my supply was good and I was very keen to have all the foods which increased my milk supply..Aditi was a Colic baby , so it was not at all easy for me till 6 months..Colic babies be very cranky and my only all time support was breast feeding ! I have had lots of cluster feedings but my energy was draining at the same time !! I use to have sleepless nights and next morning I will have a drink of Electrol for my instant energy. Everyone around me asked to stop BF but I was very desperate to give my baby full immunity with BM. I was thinking not everyone has sufficient Breastmilk and when I had enough why shud I stop..I successfully completed 26 months of Breastfeeding continuously ! And when Covid started and whole world was suffering and trying to increase their immune with various foods,I proudly raised my head to tell everyone I have given the best immunity booster..I have seen Aditi been better in many ways when it comes to health, brain development and many many more things. In this journey I would be confident but the struggles I faced is completely opposite - Being an entrepreneur it is not easy to get back to life - Work from home is easy but not - I had a pause with my work - My me time -Being myself doing my basic things itself was a big big thing for me - I was criticised but I was very firm in what I’m doing !! I advise every Mother to breastfeed ur child..that is THE BEST u can do, it’s not the time or money , Health is very important and dedicate urself into it - never hesitate to take help from your people around ! Don’t give up and keep trying ‘THE BIG LATCH ON’ ! Ur child will benefit more than anything in the world - TRUST ME Founder  Tvameva

Breastfeeding was not a cake walk for me and my daughter when we begun. I still remember how I would dread every breastfeeding session in the first few weeks. From vaginal stitches to sore nipples, I never thought I would continue breastfeeding for even a month.  But it got better as days passed, now it is been 2.8 years and still going. There are days where I'm exhausted and want to wean, also there are days where we cherish the cuddling moments after a long day. Founder  Root & Soil

I am a big believer in breastfeeding but a bigger believer in formula or breast, fed is best! The mental and physical health of the mother and the health of the infant is all that matters. I nursed my older child till he was 23 months old and my younger one just finished 6 months of breastfeeding and we will continue for as long as we can.

At beginning my baby never latched and later I used breast pump n then she started latching after few days. My baby was formula fed only during the first 2 days n then she was on exclusive breastfeeding for 6 month n never used formula milk . I think breastfeeding and giving our milk to the baby is best gift we can ever give our little one. I still pump n give her n use it for her fruits like apple n banana

Breastfeeding is an amazing thing that creates a beautiful bonding with that cute little human. Initially it was very painful with cracked nipple and improper latch but once we learnt to do it right, there was no looking back.  Sleepless nights definitely are a complaint with every mother, but it's totally worth it when we think of the numerous magic it does. We did a lot of traveling for some medical reasons when my girl was between 2.5 and 6 months and I cannot think of anything other than breast milk, there are lot of brands in formula milk but while traveling, breast milk is the most instant and surplus food that is available. We don't need anything extra, no hot water, no feeding bottle, no spillage, no mess. Feed the baby, move on. A very simple, yet highly nutritious food a baby can get. Infact it helped with my baby's healing process too.

Talk about super powers. You just birthed another little and the fact that he/she is so new into another environment and needs something familiar to soothe;was a reason enough for me to SAY a big yes to breastfeeding from the very first hour! And there was no looking back from there. I could literally sense my uterus taking off the remaining lochia every other time I BF in the first week of breastfeeding.Talk about nature doing its magic thing! Also,I have had such an exhausting sleep cycle the first 6 months of having birthed baby number 2.He’s a slightly big guy, and every hour and a half or 2-he was up-for a FEED. I didn’t give in, cause I liked the warmth we shared while I fed.  The only time I pumped was-to ensure there is a supply when I’m actually not around. But this is a very personal decision to make.Convenience and comfort can have a different meaning for each single mommy and I respect that:)FULLY!   The first connect, that warmth, the reality of having birthed a baby-sunk into me upon that firstttt suckling latch.I can still remember that chill/tingling sensation throughout my body when he first latched. This is with my first born btw.It was a feeling I had never even dreamed off.I had a zillion thoughts in my head.So much had happened in the last hour of labor. My thoughts were so hazy and mixed up.I don’t know if a hormone dip/surge is to blame. But one feeling that really kept me going was-my prize for all that I was going through-my little baby! This one thing has worked wonders for me.If you have excess, hand express. Just massage out the hardness/clogged part slowly towards the nipple outlet. The first few pushes are going to be painful.BUT the relief you get once you do it, is surreal. Also, don’t take out too much. It’s a signal for your body-to produce more cause it assumes your baby needs more! My fitness coach would always say, if you don’t make best use of what the lord has bestowed upon you-he also holds the right to punish you for the same.In his own righteous way.Somewhere I correlated all of this with my breastfeeding journey too…and may be for the good:)

It was bit tough in the beginning, baby had a touch time latching, instead of stressing this out, i was trying to help myself thinking these are common issues faced my most of the mum's, but nw my baby is a pro in latching, the second he figures out, he sticks on it like a magnet, the feel when ur baby latches and releases when done are the best, i play with my baby boy, talk to him, put him to sleep while he is on done with feeding. He is such a blessing, and breast feeding him is a boon
